Merida Island Base

Kurz Weber was born on April 1, 1979 and raised in Edogawa, Japan. His father was a correspondant for a newspaper from Germany, which explains Kurz’s fluency in Japanese, English, and German languages. He considers himself more Japanese, preferring the language and the foods to his native German. Kurz took interest in Blues music, and he formed a friendship with his music teacher at junior high, who helped him to improve his guitar skills. At the age of fourteen, Kurz’s parents were the victims of a terrorist bombing, resulting in his running away and burning need for revenge.

The details are unknown, but Kurz was eventually introduced to the man who would become his teacher, Casper. Casper was hailed as one of, if not the best sniper in the world, testing Kurz and finding him to be something of a sniping prodigy and capable in mentally anticipating the path of the bullet after taking aim. Kurz studied under Casper for only a short time, their relationship ending when Kurz was encouraged to shoot through an innocent girl named Lana in order to kill his target.

Kurz parted ways with Casper, and though he didn’t complete his training, became an accomplished Sniper in his own right, pulling off shots deemed impossible by his peers. He wandered through various battles in the Middle East and South Asia, even unknowingly fighting against Sousuke Sagara during a battle in Lebanon. Where or how he acquired his training with the Arm Slave technology is unclear, though because of his skills, he was asked to join Mithril at roughly the age of eighteen. Hiding his skills, Kurz’s abilities were discovered during an incident outside the training fields, the event being the first time he, Sousuke and Mithril officer Melissa Mao had worked together.

Kurz was then officially invited to join Mithril, being given the rank of Sergeant on the Tuatha De Danaan Special Response team, and the call sign Uruz 6. He pilots an M9E Gernsback outfitted for sniping.

While he does take his job seriously, Kurz’s flippant and flirty behavior often gets him in trouble with his love interest and superior officer, Melissa Mao, who constantly rebuffs his advances in often violent or painful ways. Despite this, he and Melissa often spend time together at the bar on Merida base, or in the mess hall on the sub drinking together or cracking jokes. Kurz also has a very charismatic personality, befriending people easily, and the skill assisting him whenever he needs to go undercover using his alias, Kalius.
